North Hills Club Tennis offers everything that a family could want in a tennis program. We feature 22 outdoor courts with 18 clay and 4 hard surface courts. Fourteen of our soft courts and the four hard courts are lighted to accommodate night play. Our hard courts have been outfitted with permanent 10 and under lines which provide us eight 36 foot courts and four 60 foot courts for junior training and competition. We currently host three USTA Sanctioned Junior Tournaments annually. We also host the Hunter Snow Charity Mixed Doubles Tournament which raises $10,000-15,000 annually for the United Methodist Children's Home. We have been the host site for the Merz Aesthetics Women's Challenger, a USTA Women's Pro Circuit event. Our current USTA programs include: Adult League Play, Junior Team Tennis, Ten and Under, and Cardio Tennis. We are also a Tennis Welcome Center.
We have eight resident teaching professionals with a wide range of experience teaching adults as well as juniors. Our pro shop offers a huge selection of men's, women's and children's tennis clothing, tennis racquets, and footwear. In addition, we have two full time racquet stringers offering same day stringing and racquet customization.
Due to the success of our programs the Club has won numerous awards. In 2007 the club won the USTA Facility of the Year Award (private) and was also recognized as a top 50 Tennis Welcome Center by the Racquet Sports Industry. Most recently the club was selected as the 2011 USTA North Carolina Member Organization of the Year. We have also been selected as a participating member for the Triangle Area Early Development Center for 10 and under tennis. In 2013 our Spring Junior Open Tournament won Junior Tournament of the year form the North Carolina Tennis Association. In 2013 our Spring Junior Open won Junior Tournament of the year from the North Carolina Tennis Association.
Shane WellsTennis Director
As the Tennis Director, Shane is responsible for overall operations of the Tennis Department. Shane began his tenure at North Hills Club in January of 2006, coming from the Governors Club in Chapel Hill, where he was Tennis Director for 10 years. Shane is a USPTA P-1 Professional and USTA High Performance Coach. Shane is a graduate of East Carolina University. He has an extensive teaching background with adults and juniors. He currently sits on the NCTA Junior Competition Committee, is a member of the Nike Club Pro Program and the Prince Elite Team. 2010 USTA Southern Tennis Pro of the Year, 2010 USTA NC Co-Recipient Tennis Pro of the Year, 2010 USPTA NC Tennis Pro of the Year, and Recipient of the 2010 Mary Milan Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the NCTA.

Shane Wells - Director of Tennis

High Performance Coach
Prior to coming to North Hills Club in January 2006, Shane was Director of Tennis at Governor's Club in Chapel Hill for 10 years.
He graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and is a USPTA P-1 Professional. In 1993, he was named Assistant Tennis Professional of the Year by the NCATP. He has been a USTA Competition Training Center Coach since 1995 and a USTA Zonal Coach since 1998. In 2002 and 2003, he was named Junior Davis/Federation Cup Coach for North Carolina. Some of his other accomplishments and awards include completing Level 1&2 Sports Science Competency Tests, the USTA High Performance Coaching Program, receiving the North Carolina Junior Tennis Council Award, and being named to the NCTA Junior Competition Committee. He has extensive teaching background with adults and juniors, ranging from beginners to advanced. He is a member of the Nike Club Pro Program and Prince Elite Team.
Shane resides in Cary, with his wife Angela, daughter Ashley and son Michael.

Rich Henderson - Assistant Tennis Director
USPTA Master Professional
Having previously been the tennis director at North Ridge Country Club here in Raleigh and at Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington, Rich has also coached a total of 2 national and 10 state championship high school tennis teams in his career with New Hanover High School and Ravenscroft School respectively. As a player at UNC-Chapel Hill, Rich was a part of 4 ACC championship teams.
Liz Perkins - Head Tennis Professional/ Adult Tennis Coordinator

Liz Perkins is the Adult Tennis Coordinator and Head Pro at North Hills Club. Liz started working at North Hills Club in 2007 after spending 4 years teaching at the Raleigh Racquet Club. Liz is a certified USPTA P1 Teaching Professional and a USTA Official. In 2010 Liz participated in a USTA High Performance Workshop for 10 and Under.
Liz is a native of Centerville, OH where she was a nationally ranked junior tennis player. Liz was a scholarship player at Division 1 James Madison University where she played #1 and #2 singles and #1 doubles. Liz's experience encompasses coaching adult and kids of all levels as well as once coaching USTA 12's Southern Cup Championships. She also helps run special events, club programs and tournaments.
In addition to coaching, Liz still plays USTA League Tennis and the Raleigh Pro League.
Liz resides in Raleigh with her husband David.
Brad Pomeroy - Head Tennis Professional/ Junior Tennis Coordinator
As a junior player, Brad was the top-ranked player in North Carolina and was consistently ranked in the top 5 in the South and top 50 in the nation. He went on to play collegiate tennis at the University of North Carolina, where he was ranked #1 in the nation in NCAA Doubles and was named an All-American his senior year.
After college, Brad spent three years on the Futures and Challenger Tours, where he won four professional doubles titles and reached ten career finals. Brad joined Hollow Rock Racquet & Swim Club after his playing career in 2008 as an assistant pro. At the start of 2010, Brad took over as the Head Tennis Professional at the Seaside Swim & Tennis Club in Seaside, Florida.
In 2011, Brad returned to Hollow Rock Racquet & Swim Club as the Head Tennis Professional. Brad has taught juniors and adults of all levels and ages and has served as a coach on the WTA Tour, where he has coached at the French Open and Wimbledon, among others.
Brad is originally from Asheville, North Carolina and resides in Raleigh with his fiancée, Brittany.
Tyler Roberts - Assistant Tennis Professional
Tyler grew up in Charlotte, as a nationally ranked junior under Calvin Davis. Tyler played at UNCG (93-97) and finished as captain and all conference for the team. He has been teaching tennis for 18 years in Winston Salem, Charlotte, Greensboro and now Raleigh. Tyler truly enjoys making tennis players better whether a beginner or at a 5.0 level, as he has taken many juniors to high level tournaments and adults to Pinehurst and beyond.
Brady Herman - Assistant Tennis Professional
Brady Herman grew up playing competitive tennis in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He went on to play at Elon University where he graduated in 2009 with a degree in Business Administration. While in college, he taught part-time as an Assistant Tennis Professional at Olde Forest Racquet Club, and in the junior programs at Elon University Tennis Camp and the Chapel Hill Tennis Club.
Since August 2009, Brady has been the Head Tennis Pro at Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina. There, he developed a highly successful junior program, along with teaching private lessons and clinics for juniors and adults of all levels. He is a USPTA Certified Professional and is dedicated to the improvement of the sport for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and levels. He has been at North Hills since June 2011.
Nick Rose - Assistant Tennis Professional
Born and raised in Raleigh North Carolina, Nick has been around the game of tennis for the past 23 years. In his four years of high school tennis he achieved team state championships, doubles state championships, regional, and conference titles. Outside of high school Nick was a nationally ranked player and a highly ranked southern and state player. He reached as high as #1 in the south for doubles, top 10 in singles, and top 3 in the state throughout his junior career. He received a tennis scholarship to East Carolina University and played top 6. He led ECU in #1 doubles all four years. He is a PTR Professional, CPR certified, and has 5+ years of teaching experience.
Outside of tennis Nick enjoys going to the gym, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Chloe Smith - Assistant Tennis Professional
Chloe grew up playing competitive tennis in Naples, Florida. She had a decorated junior career that included a high school state doubles title, a member of the Florida Fed Cup Team, a top 15 ranking in Florida, and a spot in the top 50 nationally. Her efforts earned her a full athletic scholarship to North Carolina State University where she graduated in 2013 with a degree in Sports Management. Chloe was a standout singles and doubles player, while being named Captain and garnering MVP honors her senior year.
Most recently, Chloe's continued her relationship with North Carolina State Women's Tennis and has been coaching Raleigh Charter High School Lady Tennis. In her first season as Raleigh Charter's Head Coach the team finished 2nd in the state, their highest ranking ever.
Outside of tennis, Chloe has a wide range of interest. She's a licensed real estate agent, enjoys all things athletic/outdoors, travels extensively, and loves spending time with her dog - Harley.
Phillip Arndt- Assistant Tennis Professional
Coming from Lexington, Kentucky, Phillip was a nationally top-ranked junior in the country and was ranked #3 in the south in boys 18's. He competed in super nationals and ITF tournaments during his junior career and began playing professional tournaments at the age of 16. He was recruited to play Division I tennis at the University of Minnesota where he played for 4 years as a top singles and doubles player for the Gophers. During his tenure with the Gophers, Phillip played #1 doubles all four years and was ranked as high as #21 in the country. He was widely known for his mellow temperament and respect - traits that earned him the 2012 Big Ten Men's Sportsmanship Award.
While in college, Phillip was chosen to represent the United States by competing in singles and doubles at the 2011 World Olympic Games in China. After college, Phillip played on the pro tour and competed around the country and in Canada. Throughout his career, Phillip has competitively played and trained with some of the best pros in the world.
In his free time Phillip enjoys playing the piano and spending time with his girlfriend and new puppy.
